texting + walking = fountain lady.

I was getting ready for school one day. I turned on my tv and was flipping through channels when i saw this video.

Cathy, now also known as "the fountain lady", was so distracted by her texting that she fell head first into the mall water fountain!  She says and I quote: "I thought I had a long distance -- I didn't. My boot hit the edge of the fountain and I fell over. I couldn't see anything that I could grab. Next thing I know I'm seeing pennies and coins in front of my face."  FOR REAL?!?!?! I don't know whether to feel sorry for her being so clueless, or laugh at her for being so clueless. I really started to laugh after I found out that she is planning to sue the Berkshire Mall!! Cathy feels that the security personnel should have cared more for her well being instead of laughing when they saw her trip. Sorry, but if I was a mall cop and saw this happen, my first instinct would not have been to see if she was okay. I probably would have laughed just like the security gaurd did. His laughter did get him fired though. (For more on the job loss check out this link: http://bigsole.blogspot.com/2011/01/guard-loses-job-for-woman-falls-in.html).  Fountain lady's lawyers say: "Because there was no railing to protect someone from falling into the fountain her lawsuit may have some merit." So does that mean that we are going to have to put a railing around every body of of water?? Clear Lake, the public pool, Big Blue, a little pond in someone's backyeard, everywhere? To make this story even better Cathy, during the time of her trip, was under charge for alleged theft!! There is an investigation on whether or not Cathy and the Security Guard were both in on the deal and trying to stage her trip.

Cathy obviously doesn't know proper texting etiquette. (Which I will be talking about in my next blog post.)

Okay so let me get this straight, she is being charged for alleged theft, tripped into a water fountain, and now is suing the Mall for not checking if she is okay. WOW. I think this lady has some problems. What do you guys think?? Do you think that the security guard should have been fired?? Should she get money for emotional distress?? Is this lady a complete wack job??

However the argument ends up, this one little video brought much laughter to many people. Just like fountain lady did after she retrieved herself out of the water fountain, I am going to exit stage left.

  1. This is ridiculous, obviasly there isn't going to be railings around every fountian for the sake of people who don't watch where there going. She certianly shouldn't get money for not paying attention and especially not after stealing!

  2. This is hilarious!!! Why would they put railings around the fountain?! They probably don't expect many people to make stupid mistakes like this; most people are smarter than that. This lady is making all of us look like complete fools.

  3. Okay looking at the video it is very funny but it wouldn't be funny if it happened to me. I think that she wants to sue the mall because she feels very embarassed. But if she was a good texter she would be about to walk and text without looking. So its pretty much her fault since she is obviously not a good texter.

  4. This video is hilarious! I can't believe that the woman is sueing the mall though. That is completly ridiculus because she apparently can't text well. Its called text, text, look up, check around, text text. This is a fool proof way so you don't fall into a fountain at your local mall. I don't think our mall has a fountain though, so there is no worries! I think my sister has walked into a wall. I don't remember correctly but if this did happen, then I probally laughed a lot.

  5. This is definitely funny, but some people think this is serious. Apparently the newest public health concern in America is WWD. WWD or Walking While Distracted was all over the news after this little fountain thing happened. A lot of people are starting to believe that WWD needs to be stopped by the law. So what they're saying is that people who are talking on the phone, texting, or listening to music while crossing a street need to be ticketed. I think it's absolutely ridiculous and cops have better things to do than ticket people crossing a street (or falling into a fountain). But thanks to the fountain lady, people are actually thinking that WWD is an actually issue in America. Unbelievable.
