Taking away our cell phones at school doesn't help us much, except make us even more angry and inconvenience our parents.
I think during lunch and QUICK Time we should be able to contact our parents or people outside of our school. I am not saying let everyone carry a phone all day long and we should be able to text whoever in the school at anytime, I am saying we should be given the chance to prove ourselves that we are responsible enough to use our phones in case of emergency. I know this would be one of the hardest rules to implement, but I think we need to find ways to try. Its not fair to let a few kids ruin it for all of us. I believe that if we were given the freedom and then this privilege was lost, it would be easier to accept these rules. Mainly because we were given the change and we lost it for ourselves, not just being told we can't without any real explanation.
Of course there would have to be rules and regulations on cell phones for this to work at all.
One idea I had that might influence some kids is: If you are caught with your phone out anywhere but the commons and/or lunch room/lunchroom hallway, you loose the privilege to have your phone out at all besides after school for the rest of your High School career. Meaning you wouldn't be able to use your phone when everyone else is.
Taking away our cell phone doesn't only anger us it inconveniences our parents. For example: You ride the bus home, both your parents work until 5 and you know for sure they can't take the time off to come get your phone. What happens?? You don't get your phone back that day and maybe not even the next. Instead you get in more trouble because the phone stays at school and your parents can't get a hold of you. Your parents may even try and come in before school to get your phone but then they are late to work because no one is there to help them.
They may even try and come after school but you still can't get you phone because, once again, there is no one ever in the office when you need something.
All in all I think we need to be trusted more and given the chance to prove our abilities. Maybe once we prove our side of this battle, we can prove ourselves on other battles.
For now that's all I have to say on this topic, I only wish I could snap my fingers and make all of this wishing come true. Until next time, Exit Stage Left.
See, I believe that if we don't text in class it shouldn't be a problem in case our parents need to contact us because of family problems or what not. If the cell phones go off in class, then take them. That's just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteYes I am going to have to agree with Ryan I think it should be okay for us to to at least bring our phoes to class becaus if it off or even on silent and were not texting or talking on it I dpn't see what the big paoblem
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of these comments. I just think we should be able to openly use our cell phones during lunch and quick time. The problem is it would be too difficult to regulate who people were texting and then it would be too easy for kids to cheat. Thats just what I think.
