I have no clue what to write about. There-fore you got this blog.
When you walk into the Orchestra room, 2nd period everyday, you see a fun-loving-laughing-smiling-disfunctional family. The only thing that will soon be missing is the father figure we all look up to. Mr. Root is retiring after 44 years of wonderful-patient teaching. We all knew this was going to happen sooner or later, but everyone was wishing it would be later. As he announced his retirement, tears began to puncture the surprised eyes of many sitting in their seats. Everyone was silent, and Mr. Root even looked/sounded as if he could break down crying. That probably made it just that much harder to listen to. You know everyone genuinely loved Mr. Root almost as if a family member when nobody wants to acknowledge this terrible fate. My hope was Mr. Root would retire after i graduate my senior year. He is only a couple years early.
Mr. Root has been pushing for an auditorium solely for MC Schools. Unfortunately, now that he is retiring, we will be receiving this. Along with a major remodel of the high school.
Currently our lunchroom is bare, white, and institutional. Trying to keep a optimistic look on the plans is sometimes difficult since by the time the renovations are complete, I will have graduated. I know its not about me or my grade or anything like that, but its frustrating knowing everything will be different next time i step foot into the high school. Places were memories were created will have been changed. I know this is a silly way of looking at things, but: elementary -- Jefferson got a walking track after I/my grade left; Middle School -- JAMS added gum chewing to the list of acceptable behaviors in the classroom not saying it stopped anyone anyway, (my grade did have a big part in that because we showed all the facts proving it helped students retain information); and High School -- a largely updated building will be completed. Everything has been a little late.
So if you haven't figured it out yet, Mr. Root's retirement is a little early, and the changes are a little late. But what can you do about it? Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Nothing is left to say right now, so until next time....Exit Stage Left.
I feel the opposite way! Everything bad happens to my school after I leave it. Like when I went to Madison for a year, after I graduated there they changed it to a pre-K program. After I left Roosevelt, they turned it into a 5-6 school. And also, as freshmen, we dodged mandatory quicktime & 10th grade benchmarks. It's too good to be true! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad that he is retiring he is such a great teacher!
ReplyDeleteI hate how the school makes improvments right after I'm gunna be out of high school. It sucks, but at the same time I'm glad to be getting out just in time before some major changes, for example, the 8th graders being taught in trailers and 7th graders going to madison (which is clearly haunted)
