Two letters, TV.
Two channels, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
Oh how they have changed from when we were growing up. Hey Arnold, Zoey 101, Lizzie Mcguire, the Amanda Show, That's so Raven, Even Stevens, Drake and Josh, Doug!, Rugrats, Troop, Life as a Teenage Robot, the list goes on and on and on. But what happened to these shows?? We now have shows like iCarly, Hannah Montanna, Supah Ninjas and so on. I know these old shows are cheesey, but they were real. They showed normal life for kids and teens. They showed how families got a long, and how school should be important. Shows today demonstrate people stumbling upon fame (whether on the web or musically), or living double lifes. We just can't relate to the ideas of the TV shows today like we use to be able to.
If we know TV has so much impact on youth today, then why are we allowing them to watch shows which falsly show what "teenager's lives should be like"? The shows should have some value and educational aspects incorporated. I am not saying it should be a boring school movie, but they shouldn't be mind-mushing cartoons either.
Inspiration comes from what we see. Then shouldn't we see what the real world is like, even with a few tweaks, so that we have the real picture, not some holleywood depicted version of what life with a million dollars would be like.
The shows need to be original (there is that word again). Not copy cats or repeats of other shows just in a different setting. If I wanted to watch a certain show, I would watch the real-original one, not a piggybacked one with different people.
Kids are growing up with junk TV, no wonder the younger generations are so messed up. We went from real life shows to stupid humor ruining kids futures.
This isn't all my thinking, I would like to thank Alysha Halaand about her contributions to this topic.(:
I think this is all I have to say for now. Until next time, Exit Stage Left.(:
